The Chamber of Commerce of Okeechobee County held its Inaugural Business of the Year Award luncheon on October 16, 2014.  These awards recognize Okeechobee County companies that lead with confidence, demonstrating a solid commitment to their business goals, their employees and their local community.

The Chamber has named Mark and Paulette Bragel with the Brown Cow Sweetery as winners of the 2014 Gross Income of 1 Million or less award. Frank DeCarlo with American Drilling Services Inc. was named winner of the 2014 Gross Income of 1 Million or more.  In our National/Corporate category winner for 2014 was Waste Management, Okeechobee Landfill.

In view of the Chambers business composition, three awards will be given out annually- one for Gross annual income of 1 Million or less, Gross income of 1 Million or more and our National/Corporate award.    The process for selection is rigorous, including nominations, detailed questionnaire and a committee evaluation/selection.  The Chamber is committed to helping small business owners grow their businesses and achieve their financial goals.

Special thanks to our luncheon sponsors and plaque sponsors:   Castle of Okeechobee County, CenterState Bank and Century Link, our plaque sponsors Joseph Melluzo with Tin Fish Okeechobee Restaurant and Fred and Maria Fanizzi with the Quail Creek Plantation in Okeechobee.
