About Us
Glades Electric Cooperative, headquartered in Moore Haven, is an electric distribution cooperative serving members in Okeechobee, Highlands, Glades, and Hendry counties since 1945. The cooperative was founded by local residents to provide power to the rural areas of Florida’s Heartland who remained unserved by surrounding utilities. As a cooperative, Glades Electric is a not-for-profit, private independent electric utility established to provide at-cost electric service and is owned by the members served. One of the seven guiding cooperative principles is Concern for Community. Glades Electric is committed to investing in our communities by supporting youth and community programs through grants, sponsorships, donations, and scholarships. Today, Glades Electric serves more than 16,000 accounts across 2,500 miles of lines.
