National Healthcare Decisions Day: 5 ...
Description
National Healthcare Decisions Day: April 17, 2017
Hospice of Okeechobee, along with other national, state and community organizations, is leading a massive effort to highlight the importance of advance healthcare decision-making- an effort that has culminated in the formal designation of April 16 as National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD).
The theme for 2017 is “It Always Seems Too Early, Until It’s Too Late”.
Hospice of Okeechobee is helping raise awareness by providing FREE workshops titled “5 Wishes”. One will be held April 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Okeechobee Chamber of Commerce. Call 863-467-6246 to register.
What is “5 Wishes”? A booklet, that when completed, is a legal advance directive.
What is an advance directive? It is just like it sounds. You give a directive, what you want, in advance. It is written instructions by you, about you, for you, regarding your medical wishes in case of a serious illness.
What is a health care surrogate designation? It is a written document naming the person you choose to be your voice to make medical decisions for you if you are unable to make them yourself.
