The Run the Rim Hybrid 5K, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of Okeechobee County, brought the community together for a memorable morning of movement, connection, and celebration of the natural beauty that defines our region. Held at the scenic Lock 7 Fishing Pier, the event welcomed runners, walkers, families, local businesses, and student athletes for a truly inclusive experience designed to showcase both health and heritage.
Participants were able to complete a portion of the renowned Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail, giving everyone—from seasoned runners to first-time walkers—the opportunity to experience a stretch of one of Florida’s most unique outdoor trail systems. The hybrid format allowed participants to engage in the 5K in a way that best fit their schedules and abilities, making the event accessible and welcoming for all ages and fitness levels.
The crowd reflected the diverse spirit of Okeechobee. High school athletes lined up alongside families pushing strollers, friends walking in groups, and local businesses participating as team-building and employee bonding teams. The course became a place where friendly competition met community encouragement, and where every participant—runner or walker—felt supported from start to finish.
